Longtime COG member Floyd Lochner dies OXFORD, Wis.--Longtime Church of God member Floyd Lochner, 91, died Oct. 23 at his residence in Oxford. Dr. Lochner was a former superintendent of Imperial, the primary and secondary schools operated by the Worldwide Church of God in Pasadena, Calif. A former member of the WCG and Global Church of God, Dr. Lochner was born in Chandler, Okla., May 8, 1912. He earned bachelor's and master's degrees from the University of Oklahoma and his doctorate in education in 1969 from Ambassador College. He served in the U.S. Navy and was a world-class runner. He won a national interscholastic one-mile track championship while a college student in 1932 and a national intercollegiate two-mile championship in 1937. He held the U.S. and world records in the two-mile steeplechase in 1936 and 1937. He was director of the Works Project Administration (WPA) for the State of Oklahoma from 1939 to 1942 and a trainer of military recruits from 1942 to 1946. Dr. Lochner married Vernice Ruby White, who died in 1975. He married Kimberly Kalamaha in 1976. He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Kimberly, a son, Floyd Otto Jr. of Lexington, S.C., an elder in the United Church of God; a daughter, Peggy Harris of Fort Collins, Colo.; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
