The Journal sends 60th issue to press

BIG SANDY, Texas--With this issue The Journal: News of the Churches of God has published 60 monthly issues: five years' worth. Also, this is the 48th issue, marking four years, of The Journal's advertising supplement, Connections: Member to Member.

The Journal's first issue came out in February 1997. Publisher Dixon Cartwright of Big Sandy decided to begin the newspaper after a newspaper he helped edit, In Transition, published by John Robinson of Decatur, Ind., ceased publication after 22 months with its January 1997 issue.

From its beginning The Journal's purpose, said Mr. Cartwright, has been to provide news and a forum for biblical and related discussions for members of the Sabbatarian Churches of God.

A related purpose, he said, is to help people realize "there is no one between them and God."
