Anne W. Scott, 88, died Monday, Nov. 15, 2010, at Concord Care Center. She was born March 26, 1922, in Barrow-in-Furness, Lancashire, England, the daughter of the late William Henry Ward and the late Ethel Maude Underwood. Anne Scott was a graduate of Warren G. Harding High School. She retired from Packard Electric after working there 32 years. She enjoyed square dancing, gardening, and she was a seamstress. |

Art Gilmore, who for decades was the announcer for The World Tomorrow on radio and many other audio-video projects for the old Worldwide Church of God, died Sept. 25, 2010, in Irvine, Calif., at age 98. William "Buddy" Holmes, 69, of Phenix City, Ala., died at home on Oct. 4, 2010. Survivors include a sister, Shirley Hamil of Selma, Ala. |

Anne is survived by two sons, Robert Johnson of Indianapolis and Russell Johnson of Flower Mound, Texas; one stepdaughter, Debbie and Arthur Tracy of Bristolville; and one stepson, Tim and Linda Scott of Mapleshade, N.J. She has five grandchildren, Matt, Kelley, Bryan, Kim and Steve; and seven great-grandchildren. Preceding her in death were her husband, Freeman Scott, whom she married Dec. 23, 1978, and preceded her in death on Oct. 19, 2009; and 13 brothers and sisters. Services will be held at 11 a.m. today at the Carl W. Hall Funeral Home. Friends may call one hour before the service. Burial will be in Meadow Brook Memorial Park in Warren. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that material contributions be made to the Alzheimer's Association in her memory.

Robert "Bob" Newton McCommon, 61, of Longview, Texas, died Sept. 19, 2010. Mr. McCommon was born Aug. 30, 1949, in Bolivar, Tenn., the son of Norman Earl McCommon and Rita Jean Erwin McCommon. He attended and graduated from Marshall High School. On Sept. 25, 1982, he married Lavenda Burrow in Jefferson, Texas.
Mr. McCommon worked as a draftsman for McCommon & Associates in Longview for 26 years. He also served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War on the USS Forrestal. Robert enjoyed fishing and watching NASCAR competition. He also enjoyed playing softball and riding motorcycles.
Survivors include Mr. Mccommon's wife of 27 years, Lavenda, of Longview; two daughters, Lauren McCommon of Dallas and Kimber McCommon of Longview; one son, Andrew McCommon of Longview; parents Norman and Rita McCommon; a brother, Douglas McCommon of Longview; a sister, Norma McCommon Mattox of Marshall; a nephew, Justin Posey of Longview; three nieces, Katherine Dawson of Austin, Maleah McCommon of Dallas and Meagan McCommon of Longview; and cousins and other relatives and friends. Pallbearers were Clifford Scott, Glen Coleman, Bob Gillam, Ken Burgin, Ron Mattox and Raymon Kale. Ron Avey and Bob Bryant officiated at the funeral service.
