Elder leaves CG Denver conference

DENVER, Colo.--Steve Kurtright, an elder in the Church of God (Seventh Day) denomination headquartered here, left the church in September reportedly because the CG7 is not changing its doctrines and adopting "New Covenant" teachings fast enough.

"Steve was perhaps the most radical of the national leadership in espousing evangelical Protestantism," said Alan Knight of Antioch, Calif., also a CG7 member and a critic of what he sees as the move away from "God's law" by some leaders in the Denver conference.

On the other hand, the conference's magazine, The Bible Advocate, recently highlighted "themes of obedience, to confirm Sabbath observance, etc.," said Mr. Knight.

The Journal was not successful in making contact with Mr. Kurtright before the deadline for this issue.

For more on Mr. Knight's view of the situation with the Denver conference, see his commentary beginning on page 3 of this issue.
