UCM seminars to aid in godly relationships

By Mac Overton

JASPER, Ala.--United Christian Ministries and the independent United Church of God of Tupelo, Miss., sponsored a Sabbath of seminars called "Building God's Family" Feb. 10 at Community Health Systems Activities Center here.

"The primary goal of United Christian Ministries is promoting the grace and knowledge of Jesus Christ," said UCM founder Ray Wooten of Hoover, Ala. "A major part of that goal is the development of Bible-oriented family-relationship programs."

Mr. Wooten said the Feb. 10 program was "the most biblical and clear presentation I have every heard on the subject of family relations."

Topics during the sessions centered on personality and temperament types, godly values and standards; "Marriage Is Honorable in All"; conflict resolution God's way; and "Understanding Love Languages."

Jeff and Sharon Ledy of Perry, Mich., were the presenters.

"I cannot say enough about their very professional yet humble approach to a very complex relationship," said Mr. Wooten.

The Ledys have three children, Erin, 18, Eric, 14, and Elyse, 11. They have been married for 20 years, and both are graduates of Ambassador College, Pasadena, Calif. Mr. Ledy also earned a degree in engineering at California State University.

"Helping others learn more about marriage and parenting has become a personal ministry for the Ledys," Mr. Wooten said. "They have led several biblically based video classes on parenting and have been a support and accountability team for marriages.

"They are always looking for ways to improve their own marriage and family relationships. They have attended many conferences and read many books looking for answers and specific steps to make their family more pleasing to God.

"To quote them, 'We feel privileged to share what we are learning and thank God for giving us the opportunity to spend time with brethren.' "

Mr. Wooten said the UCM develops and sponsors outreach seminars such as the one here pertaining to marriage, child raising and related topics to help build godly families.

"We are finding that the principles of family relations are also applicable to other relationships as well."

The UCM's next conference is scheduled for Houston and San Antonio, Texas, April 28. For more information contact George Crow at (282) 391-9275 or UCM at (888) 985-9066.
