Many of you have been aware of Robbie Slinkard's recent surgery for removal of a cancerous growth on her eye. The surgery was performed on schedule, but the aftermath has not been satisfactory. The red streak which initially indicated the presence of the disease is still there. There have been several pathology studies of the tissue samples since then with conflicting evaluations. She has obtained a second doctor's opinion and questions still remain. Many of you have known Robie and Darrell for many years as faithful followers of the Way. I am confident that you will wish to join with us in seeking our Heavenly Father's intervention on Robbie's behalf, that this cancerous threat may be taken from her and her sight preserved. Louis Isom, 77, father-in-law of the publisher of The Journal, died Jan. 19 in a hospital in Clinton, Ark. He is survived by his wife, the former Ruth Kirkendoll; daughters Linda Kay Cartwright of Big Sandy, Texas; Lou Ann McKay of Chatsworth, Ga.; and Rita McMahan of Houston; a son, Bill Isom of Clinton; and grandchildren Trey and Jamie Cartwright of Big Sandy; Dax Louis McKay of Chatsworth; Amanda McMahan of Damascus, Ark.; and Chris and Chad Isom of Clinton.
