Campus foreclosure

PASADENA, Calif.--As reported in The Los Angeles Times and other news sources, a major residential development on part of the former campus of Ambassador College has fallen into foreclosure. City of Pasadena officials announced the foreclosure June 10, 2008.

The project, reported the Times, was supported by area preservationists and was to be a key development of Old Town Pasadena.

The project was opposed by Harvest Rock Church, which occupies another part of the former campus, including the building that was once the Ambassador Auditorium.

Labor Day Family Weekend

HARTVILLE, Mo.--Dan and Margie White's Pass It On Ministries will sponsor its annual Labor Day Family Weekend Friday, Aug. 29, through Monday, Sept. 1, 2008. The location: Camp Fairhaven, near Dora, Mo.

"Singles, young adults and families are invited to come enjoy fun and fellowship in the beautiful Missouri Ozarks," Mrs. White said.

Activities will include a Friday-night Bible study, Sabbath services, an all-day canoe trip down the White (no relation) River, volleyball and swimming.

Feast in Costa Rica

EL SALVADOR, San Salvador--The Church of God in El Salvador plans to sponsor a seaside Feast site near Puntarenas, Costa Rica, Oct. 13-22, 2008.

"Fellowshipping with new independent church members will make it a very special Feast for everyone," said Patricia "Patty" Cisneros de Santos. Services will be translated from Spanish to English.

"We need about 30 people, in addition to our congregation, to achieve the minimum of 100 required for the negotiated price at the resort," Mrs. Cisneros de Santos said.

"We would also deeply appreciate any extra donations possible as a support for our local church in El Salvador."

The location: Doubletree Hilton Resort, near the port town of Puntarenas. Included will be meals and drinks and use of the hotel's nonmotorized water gear.

UCM Feast

ROANOKE, Ind.--The Feast site sponsored by United Christian Ministries and its pastor, Ray Wooten, is set for Sevierville, Tenn., Oct. 13-21, 2008.

"You are invited to keep the Feast of Tabernacles in the Smoky Mountains of Tennessee," said a printed announcement from UCM.

Campsites for Feastgoers will be available at Ripplin' Waters Campground and Cabin Rentals.

Singles in the middle

BIG SANDY, Texas--The Church of God Big Sandy plans its Friendship Weekend for "singles in the middle" for the Labor Day weekend, Aug. 29 through Sept. 1, 2008.

Planned are a Bible study, a Sabbath brunch and lunch, seminars on love, widowhood, divorce, marriage and finances, dinner at a restaurant, a movie in the church building, a pool party, a cookout, a game night and dancing.

2008 women's conference

Feast-day wallet cards from BibleStudy.org

FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich.--BibleStudy.org recently updated its popular wallet-seized feast-day calendar cards, announced Alan Ruth, full-time webmaster of BibleStudy.org and TheJournal.org.

The cards, which follow the Jewish calendar, observed by most Church of God groups, are available by writing Mr. Ruth at Barnabas Ministries, P.O. Box 3393, Farmington Hills, Mich. 48333, U.S.A.

Mr. Ruth reports BibleStudy.org in 2007 experienced close to a 14 percent increase in visitor traffic over 2006 totals, with 5.8 million copies of its articles requested for the year.

Alan also reports that for the first six months of 2008, the site has attracted more than 1.4 million actual visitors (an almost 22% increase from 2007) who have read close to 3.4 million pages of its materials. The site is projected to finish the year with 3 million visitors and 7 million pages accessed.

COG Big Sandy vote results

BIG SANDY, Texas--The Church of God Big Sandy has two new board members after the recent June 2008 election. They are Melodee Overton and J.L. Roden. Bernie Monsalvo, board president, was reelected.

Three other CGBS members who were nominated but not elected were Tim Dunnam, Kit Holloway and Ron Feaker.

The current list of board members (all are from the Big Sandy area): Ron Avey, Neil McIver, Don Mischnick, Mr. Monsalvo, Mrs. Overton, Mr. Roden and Jim Wilkins.
